Holmium laser |
The Holmium laser uses a flexible laser fiber to fragment stones located in the bladder, ureter or kidney. The slim laser fiber is introduced into an endoscope through the urethra. Under direct vision, the fiber is placed in contact with the stone to achieve fragmentation. Some of the advanges of Holmium laser lithotripsy include the ability to treat all stone compositions, fiber flexibility and small diameters allowing access to difficult areas. These procedures generally enable the patient to be discharged the same day of the procedure.
